June to OctoberWhile on trekking, you will know the real villages of Ladakh and their way of living.
Marka valley trek of nine days starting from village called Jingchen south of Indus river, around 05 km away from Spituk village. Most famous and oldest trekking route in the trans Himalayas of Ladakh. Home of many wild life centuries like snow leapord, Ibex, fox, wolf and Marmot etc. the valley is known for tall peak like Kang yatse, green pasture land of Nimaling, mountains bounded isolated village, cool water of stream and beautiful Buddhist monasteries of the region. high passes of Gandala 4900 M and Kongmarulla 5150 M respectively. This easy and beautiful trekking end at Chokdo village comprise of some houses.
Leh to Zingchen by taxi and trek to Yurutse
Leh to Zingchen by Taxi and trek to Yurutse takes around 2 to 3 hours. the route is gentle ascend, mostly have to walk along the stream, reach at a junction, from there the trails to Stokla and Yurutse separate. After that the trial become more ascends till Yurutse arrive. overnight in tent at Yuru tse camping site.
Yuru tse to Shinggo via Gandala pass 4900 M
Today the route is whole ascending till Gandala top arrive. takes around 2 to 3 hours upto top. From the top you will see shingo village consist of just two houses at the base of la. it takes 1 hour for walking down till reach camping site. camping site near the stream.
Shinggo(11121ft) to Sku
Shingo to Sku takes around 3 hours easy walking. Today you need to walk descent down along the nallah till Sku arrive. camping site is in the middle of village.
Sku (10991ft) to Markha
To avoid day heat, it is recommended to start early as the route is bit far but easy. After walking for sometimes reach at a bridge that you have to cross and reach at a village name Sara consist of just three families. The view of the village is beautiful. keep walking till river bank arrive. Cross the river and keep walking for some time and again cross the same river before reaching Markha. The village is the largest in valley consist of more than 50 families. There are two camp site in the village one is just before the village and another one is at the end of village on the river bank.
Markha (12348ft) to Hankar
After walking some time from camping site Markha, you reach at the temple belong to Hemis monestery name Yensa on rock hill. The next place to reach is Umlung, comprise of some families and the camp site is end of the village with beautiful grassland with running chill water of Kangyatse peak.
Hankar(13217ft) to Nimaling
Early start from Hankar camp is good to get to the next camp. The route not hard but little far with beautiful landscape. For first few hours need to walk along the stream and than trail lead gradual ascends till camp arrives. The beautiful camping site with view of Kang yaste gives pleasant feeling. Overnight in tent at camping site.
Niamling to Chokdo
Today from starting need to walk ascend to toward Kongmarulla top 5150 M. and walking down through the narrow valley takes around 6 hours to reach at the pickup point. And drive to Leh takes around 2 hours.
