Ladakh is a place known for high mountain ranges and peaks to climb. The region is always delighted by person, who loves mountaineering. Mishal peak trekking expedition in the valley lies in between twin lake named Tsomoriri and Tsokar the lake known for salt water to the south east of Leh, around 220 km away from Leh town. Home of many wildlife centuries survive in high altitude valley of changthang with harsh weather condition of the valley. Three different routes are there to achieve its height but difficulty level varied as per route you choose. It is good for those who are doing expedition for the first time. Lunch can be had at Chumathang hot spring. While going for this expedition.

You can see the first view of the peak from Chaktsang Tso little before Tsomoriri. You can drive only upto nomad camp, starting point of trekking expedition Mishal peak. After walking 500 mtrs, meet Gyama nallah, your first camp. Nomadic way of life is unique features of the valley, move from place to place in search of grass to graze their herds of yaks and goats. Their tents called Rebo in local language can be seen while going towards camp. View of the valley from the top is spectacular and everyone feel glad when they gained height of peak and enjoy the view of lakes and other known and unknown peaks lies in that ranges also heart taking. Acclimatise properly before moving from Leh to such high altitude place.

Mishal peak - Trip Detail
  • Day 01 Leh to Tso chung
    • Start early drive to Chaktsang tso from Leh via Mahe Bridge takes around 6 to 7 hours by taxi (easy drive). It is good to had lunch at Chumathang known for Medicinal Hot Spring among local. You need to cross the bridge from Mahe and keep driving till Tso Chung arrive.

  • Day 02 Chaktsang Tso to Tokpo Gyama
    • Short distance recommended to acclimatized properly as you are on very high altitude. Need to wall upward easy slope. You may fall ill if going more higher for the first day. To reach Tokpo Gyama takes only 2 hours. Camp side is beautiful just bank of the stream. Overnight in tent at camping site.

  • Day 03 Tokpo Gyama to base camp
    • Three hours walking distance with gradual slope, after walking few hours from Tokpo Gyama reach rocky land through the valley. Tight campsite with glacier water, nice to experience. Overnight in tent at camping site.

  • Day 04 Base camp to Summit to base camp
    • Base camp to summit take around 5 to 6 hours. Good to start around 2 o,clock in the morning to get on the top before sunrise, to enjoy the sunrise view of valley, lake and peaks. After spending few hours on the top start walking back to base camp takes 3 hours. Overnight in tent at camping site.

  • Day 05 Base camp to Nomad camp
    • Have early breakfast start trek to Nomad camp first two hour slope trails and continue 2 hours walking on plain trails through the nallah till camp arrive. Overnight in tent at camping site, nomadic camp.

  • Day 06 Nomad camp to Leh via Mahe bridge by taxi
    • After enjoying visit of Tsomoriri lake and sacred Korzok monastery start drive to Leh via Mahe bridge. Nice to have lunch at Chumathang hot spring, famous for healing diseases as per local treatment. Good restaurant serve Indian, Chinese and continental. With easy drive you will get Leh in the afternoon.
